The Future will be Simulated

So since my last update I have learnt that I did not win the Leverhulm funding that would have kept me at Warwick for another 2 years. This is a shame but not unexpected since the funding is highly sought after.

So with that plan out, in with the new. I have applied for a position in London, at ICL. I have also applied to a position at Minneapolis, Minnesota, US.

However, things get weirder. I caught up on google chat with an old PhD friend who is now at Chicago, and so he put a word in with his supervisor and I have forwarded my CV to them.

Even stranger comes next. I was looking at my recent citation count and noted that my last paper, the literature review on neural networks in chemistry had been cited again by a researcher whos own work I have followed closely. So I checked out his webpage, noticed a job, got in contact, found out it was still available and also that I would be a very good candidate for the position, and that it could be filled immediately. Needless to say I applied. It's in Bochum Germany. So the near future does not look likely for me staying in the UK. Exciting!
